...so after afew days back in cartagena, we heard of a music concert in bogota. looked it up, then bought some bus tickets. we couldnt get out of cartagena the first day, as the city was clogged with school kids in street parades... which was quite a sight. so many kids dancing in the streets!
...so we were forced to stay another night, which happened to be haloween, which also happened to be a great night out...
...eventually, we made it onto a bus, towards bogota. Arriving in the city, we were struck with the fresh air. It seems we didnt do our research on the climate, and are now enjoying the fresh days and nights. We headed straight out tot the festival and observed the young colombians from all over the country thoroughly rocking out - colombian style.
So after a few days, i´m starting to get a feel for the city. It´s big, got loads of culture (music, museums etc), and little bit of a punk/rock culture. Good graffiti, stylish people, good looking women, and crazy hair styles all seem normal around here. There are loads of universities, and the streets are always busy. oh, and of course there a few token crazy´s after your change.
The city boasts loads of museums and art galleries... but perhaps the stand out is the gold museum. It is loaded with gold artifacts from the indigenous people. A must see for those visiting.
We also checked out a salt mine a couple hours north of the city, in which a large catherderal was constructed. It´s 180m undergound, and everything inside is salt! very surreal!!
anyway.... maybe the pictures will tell more than my little spiel here....
