After a smooth busride into El Salvador, we arrived in San Salvador... the capital & changed buses from our AC'd coach into the local 'chicken' bus headed down to the coast.
First thoughts on El Salvador were all good.... friendly people, safe, good roads (really stood out after guatemala), and every guard rail was painted... a result and reminder the civil war. Also the money is the US$... another reminder of the US involvement in El Salvador.... good or bad....
we arrived in La Libertad, and changed transport again... this time to a pickup truck or taxi. it's the same thing around here. and found some accomodation in El Tunco.
...after waiting around for three days, we decided to go find a party somewhere.... all 5 aussies... talking about it, the frist idea was san salvador, then maybe guate city... then antigua (guatemala).... then... suprise, suprise... the lake!!!
so we decided to roll on out of El Salvador destined for our beloved Guatemala.... we did find some ok waves on the way out, so had to stop briefly..... a decision which was made on the toss of a coin, and later proved to be detrimental to our little road trip....
