Ana and me with our rented Opel Astra near Pamplona
We stayed in a nice, clean hotel, another Express by Holiday Inn, outside of Pamplona
. We woke up, checked out, and set to check an aqueduct-like structure we saw in the night before getting to Pamplona, there it was – like a Roman aqueduct, a huge wall with arches, but more modern – we couldn’t resist having pictures next to it. We enter Pamplona, search for spot where to park our car, then walk to La Ciudadela – an old fortress in the center of the city, it remind us of the Castilo San Marcos in Saint Augustine, Florida. More and more pictures follow. There's the impressive convention center with its ultra-modern architecture contrasting with the old fortress. We ask some locals where to eat, we picked Cafetería Koppo (at Plaza del Vínculo), what a meal! We loved the "fritas mixtas" (croquet-like treats)!! And we bought wine of Navarra
to go too, we joked with the staff, the people were very friendly... the sweets were exquisite! We left the restaurant, and drive through the city; stop to put gas... diesel in the car – first fill-up in Europe!! – and shocked: 43 euro!!! Geez! Good thing it's a diesel car (nowadays it's similar in the States). Later we depart to San Sebastián in the north coast of Spain.
