Deniz with some local kids...
Today we were all together: Fatih, Deniz me and my Mum and all together we went to Harran. Today Deniz were driving in his car and I was lucky that one day it was not me who had to drive. So I could just sit inside the car and relax ;-)

Some facts:
A very ancient city which was a major Mesopotamian commercial, cultural, and religious center, Harran is a valuable archaeological site. It is often identified as the place in which Abraham lived before he reached Canaan
Das antike Harran (Carrhes) war zwischen 2000v.Chr. und i300n.Chr. die grösste Stadt der Götzendiener, sie liegt im Dorf Altinbasak 40km süd-östlich von Urfa.

It was really really hot in Harran!
As we arrived - Fatih was watching the way via his GPS and tried to find out Harran's castle. But while watching and watching his GPS system, he didn t realize that the castle was just beside us - he only didn't recognize cause he was not looking up his GPS. That was really funny.
In Harran we found a local guide. He was really great and showed us around the village and explained a lot of interesting things.

Than he even joined us in our car to drive with us to the old BAZDA CAVES, SUAYIP and HAN-EL BABUR CARAVANSARY.
Especially the Bazda caves were that impressing. They were used as quarries.
Everywhere we stopped we were surrounded by many kids and we were always a group of about 10 up to 20 walking around ;-))
We were really lucky having our guide with us cause without him we would never found to these hidden places in the desert-like area near the Syrian border.

After a really interersting tour we got back to Harran where we also visited the remains of the oldest islamic university - the Harran  Üniversitesi. This area was marked off by fences due to current archeological excavations.
Fatih and Deniz both were really hungry. So we had a short rest in one of the typical Harran houses to have an ice tea and talking with some women living in Harran. After that we went back to Urfa to get some lunch.
We found a really nice restaurant where we could sit outside and enjoy our meal and get prepared for the 3km walk cause of the youth and sports day ;-)
