Halifax to Vancouver on a budget with no time limit...and only my trusty 'penguin of death' mug for company.

Greenwoods

About half an hour North East of Kingston I found the Cottage. My Uncle has a plot of land on the edge of the lake near Portland, a small village in the heart of the Rideau lakes area. His Cottage there is incredible! It’s very old and desperately clings to the shore by it fingernails, as if it found the water a bit too cold last time it took a swim. Inside it’s a cottage, then inside that there is another cottage. I’m not kidding; the Original veranda has been semi enclosed and it almost encompasses the lower floor, making it really quirky but very cool.

We swam from the small dock at the back of the cottage, took the motor boat out and the canoe too! I didn’t want to leave. At night it gets pretty spooky staying there on your own, but that just adds to the excitement of being there!
