A Miner's Life for me
July 8, 2006
In Kutna Hora, an old silver mining town that once rivalled Prague, I got a tour of the mines where I had to dress as a miner and descend hundreds of stairs underground. Some of the passageways were so narrow that I had to turn sideways to get through, and some of the ceilings were so low I was almost crawling. Did I mention it had almost no lighting, so that flashlight wasn't just for show. Good thing nobody fat came in, they'd have never made it through.
