Cefalu
The little seaside town of Cefalu was quiet and serene on a Sunday, wandering down the main road from the train station got us to the main square, which suddenly opens up with a massive cathedral off one end of it, surrounded by diving little birds - midday feeding?! Lots of the little side streets are lined with potted flowers in colourful disarray, and there are lots of little buzzing trattorias dotted around.
The beautiful beach has sand!!! As we only stopped there for 3 hours and then had to hop onto a plane, I restrained myself from splashing into the cool and inviting-looking water, but I told myself that it just gave me incentive to come back for a paddle sometime.
We also ate some fantastic granite here, and some great pasta at the seaside Cafe Molo. There is a really pretty double arch looking out over the sea which is at one end of the beach next to Cafe Molo, it's like looking through double-arched windows onto endless blue. A picturesque town, I just wish we'd been able to stay at least one night!
