Pit stop in Santiago

Due to a lack of bus times to suit our itinerary we paid Anley's friend once again to act as a taxi to get to us to Santiago where we'd spend half a day and the night before picking up the bus to Baracoa, our 4 day stint of R'n'R at the beach, the following day. I really liked Santiago [Amanda was not so keen], it definitely has a much more Caribbean soul than Havana and I wished we could have had more time there, there is a really impressive Spanish fort there I would have liked to have checked out. Also I'm not sure we got to see the best of the city given that is was a Sunday and everything was closed. We stayed in a really nice Casa with a roof top terrace and the narrow city streets framed views to the Sierra and the sea. I think when carnival comes to Santiago in July the place would be awesome! We spent what little time we had exploring the city, satisfying our need for pizza [not as good as your ones back home mind but still hit the spot] then chilling out on our terrace playing Shithead and drinking some not bad red wine from Chile. The lack of time we got here was to frustrate me later on in Baracoa, but more on that later.
