Oh man...and I thought it would be tame!
Well, this was my first meet up. And it happened to be not far from where I live. So that was great. I was a bit nervous at first because I didn't know what to expect! But I knew I would like everyone because everybody seemed so nice online. And they are even better in person!
I didn't make it to the dinner, but I did make it to the after dinner drinking! Which is where all the crazy things happened, well, at least I think a bunch of crazy things occured. I guess from what I experienced. I walked in and didn't know where anybody was, so I started walking towards the bar. That's when I noticed a large group of people and the first person I recognized was Jillian. So I knew I was at the right place! I introduced myself to her and then she started calling everyone.
Melanie (aka Queen CW) is a fellow Dodger fan, like myself! So I couldn't wait to meet her! I was glad I did! She is so funny! Her quote of the night was "I'm ENGAGED!" I am pretty sure you have all heard about the engagement between Jillian and Mel. The rings are beautiful by the way!I feel very fortunate to have met all of the people I did that night; Joy, Jillian, Jenn, Giovanni, Melanie, Sheila, Adrian, Julz, Mark, Stephen, Lynette Erin, Kathryn, Charles and so many others I didn't even mention. Especially Eric, the co-founder, because without his view and that of his brother, we never would have met thru this web site. The location of the meetup was very nice, even though it wasn't the original place. Thank goodness Joy knew the spots in that area because while I was driving back and forth looking for parking by Baja Cantina, I couldn't believe how many people were in that area and no parking to be found! I think that the Marriot was a much better choice because it wasn't crowded and we actually heard each other!
The outdoor nightclub, GLOW, was a really awesome place! I loved it and I loved the music they played.
It's not someplace I usually go to, but I am glad I did because I had great company! Everything from getting drinks, to someone crawling on the floor, to being annoyed by the Russians, to the breaking of a wine glass was very memorable. For it being my first TB meetup it was a great experience. I would suggest that everybody go to a meetup whether it be local or in another country/city/state! They are so much fun!
