Transit at Istanbul Airport

I just touched down about an hour ago. The plan ride on Turkish airlines from Singapore to Istanbul was alright. The landing was so smooth that the passengers broke into an applause. Is this a common occurence or is it just the Turks? Anyway, I was rather lucky to have gotten a seat beside a nice turkish dude who works in sg (as a chef! hahaa). So we talked and I got him to teach me some basic turkish and I´ve been using them quite a bit here at the airport (mostly thank-yous) and it almost always brought a smile to their faces. so now i´m inspired to learn the basic words in all languages!

okay 3 more hours to go before the plane leaves for Madrid! yawn.
