Sightseeing + night with Marcus!
I did some sightseeing with Delphine in the day. Went to Park Guell, after which we walked the "touristy route" back to our hostel, passing by some attractions. We also had paella and tapas for lunch (Delphine's first spanish lunch!). At night, I went to Las Ramblas to meet Marcus for dinner at 9ish. Marcus is staying at Kabul. I wanted to stay at Kabul as well because I've heard so much about it but it was fully booked by the time I wanted to book for accomodations weeks ago. But yes, after eating dinner at KFC (we got sick of spanish food), he brought me to Kabul to hang out at the common area. Oh btw, the people in KFC were really rude, it makes me dislike Barcelona. Anyway, the Kabul common area is a huge place with a pub and heaps of people just hanging out. He introduced me to Alex from the US.
Then we headed to a club nearby with a few others from Kabul but the club didn't let us in because we're a group. How dumb is that! Then Marcus, Alex, Anna (from sydney and speaks fluent spanish) and I took a cab down to Shoko, a famous club by the beach. We entered without a problem. Anna met her Italian guy-friend, who was there with 2 others. I was just talking to one of them and he was really funny. We took some stupid photos. I think his name's Andrean or something. He speaks fluent Spanish and he wants to improve his English. So last night, he was correcting my Spanish and I, his English. i told him i'm going to sitges to meet some friends on friday night. i think it's about half an hr by train. Since he's been staying in Barcelona for a few months, I thought i'd ask him how to get there.
me: i'm going to sitges tomorrow night. how do i get there?
him: (in spanish) by plane. or can try walking
me: no i think i'm gonna ride a bicycle there.
him: what's train in spanish....
me: tren! t-r-e-n
him: no no.. there is another word for it a more proper word..
him: ah! i know. la varamadura
me: (in the most unglam way) ah?
then he laughed and made me say the word a few times, fast.
After a good 2 minutes,
me: i didn't know train was la varamadura!
him: it isn't. i made that up.
Anyway, I didn't get to say goodbye to my italian friend because I had to leave in a hurry and he wasn't there. We didn't wanna stay out too late cos the 3 of them had a flight on Friday and I'd to wake up early for Montserrat, so the 4 of us took a cab back at 2am.. We said our goodbyes and kisses and they dropped me off at my hostel. It was a good Thursday night in Barcelona.
2 more nights in barcelona, and then I'm headed for home.
