After 10 hours on the train, finally we arrive at Lao Cai train station.
When we step out from the railway station, there are many people rush to us to offer us a taxi ride and van ride to Sapa. Every one is giving a different rate and we were there almost half and hour just to bargain.
At last, we closed the deal with the Van driver and he promised that we will only carry four of us ( Me, Ron, Jerome and Jeff). It is just a small and old crampy van. All of us get in to the van and we were asked to wait.
We don't know what is going on, just waited in the van for 15 minutes. Then we try to talk to the driver and we got to know that they lied to us. We are there just to wait for another train and they are trying to get as many people to get on the Van.
There are nothing much we can do. We have paid to the driver. I think this is a good lesson, never pay till you reach your destination. It takes about two and half hours to reach Sapa.
Sapa is really a beautiful place, the air is fresh and cool. I personally like this place and it is really worth to go there.
I spent there for 3 days and 2 night and i left Sapa on 20th April. I arrived at the Lao Cai train station around 4pm and wanted to get a soft sleeper train Back to Hanoi. On arrival at the station, we try to get the ticket back to Hanoi. We are trying to communicate with the girl at the counter, but too bad she is unable to speak in english.
We tried to search around for people for are manage to the translation for us. Finally we found a lady who can speak very well in English, we got to know that ticket for for soft sleeper only can get at the Tour Agency. They will not sell it at the railway station.
There is a tour agency just within the walking distance from the Railway station. It is located on the right just after we come out from the railway station.
