The wedding was set at a beautiful castle on the grounds of a preparatory school in Brooklandville, Maryland.
As every one knows, all the planning and prep work you do can not guarantee all things will go as planned. In our case, the flowers never arrived for the ceremony. Lena had picked out Blood Roses for her bouquet, and one for my boutonniere. These are the deepest color red she had ever seen and wanted them for her bouquet. We had also decided each of the girls in the wedding party would carry a single white long stem rose and each of the guys would also have a white rose as their boutonniere.
But, it was starting time and no flowers. The castle staff had been trying to reach the florist, but with no success. Luckily the castle is decorated with large pots with flowers already growing in them. So, at the time the ceremony was suppose to start, the staff at the castle was running around cutting flowers from the grounds and making bouquets for the girls and boutonnieres for the guys. You would of thought Lena and the girls would have been in a panic, but no. She had no worries and was having a great time with it. After the ceremony ended, and we were getting pictures taken, the florist did show up. She was crying and very apologetic and gave us the flowers at no cost…of course. As you can see, some photos are with the fresh cut flowers and some are with the roses. Lena later said the roses were so heavy, she was glad she wasn’t carrying them for the ceremony!

Our guest sat in the shaded lawn looking up towards the raised patio where we said our vows.
The wedding party was spaced evenly on each side of us standing on the curved steps which led up to the patio. We wrote our own vows and at the end, instead of each of us saying "I Do" separately, we said "We Do" at the same time. After the quick 10 minute ceremony, the wedding party and our families went to the side of the castle for pictures while our guest enjoyed the delicious food prepared by Signature Catering and the open bar :) After the many pictures, the wedding party went upstairs so we could be introduced to our guest. Lena's girls consisted of my daughter Courtnie, Jennifer who Lena worked with at Annapolis Harley-Davidson (Lena worked there part time for a few years) Karen & Jenny who are both Swedish and now living in the Annapolis area, Shanon, my niece, and her maid of honor Katie.
My step brother from Minnesota playing before the ceremony.
My guys standing with me were my son Mike, my step brother Chris, my brother in law Shawn, my good friend and co worker from Annapolis Harley-Davidson Mike, my nephew Jon, and my best man and other brother in law, Bill. Everyone was introduced by the DJ with the usual slow sappy music, but when it came time for Lena and I, the slow music stopped. Then, Pantera's "Walk" stared as we entered the main hall!! The place was going crazy!!! After all the toasting and speeches we all sat outside on the long patio and enjoyed our dinner. The DJ played nothing but Andrea Bocelli during dinner for the proper mood, as we requested. After dinner, the dancing began until the end of the night.
