Zandvoort I love it
Every year I go to Zandvoort for one or more days, it`s a lovely place with a lot to do and when the sun isn`t shining, I take the train to visit places around Zandvoort.
Zandvoort is very lively, it attracts about 4 million visitors every year.
They also call it: Amsterdam by the Sea.
In the past Zandvoort was called Sandevoerde a combination of sand and voorde (meaning ford)
There`s plenty of entertainment and there are almost 40 beach pavilions.
Another unique Zandvoort attraction is the racing circuit: Circuit Park Zandvoort, located in the dunes.
The long sandy beach is bordered by coastal dunes, where you can make a beautiful walk.
You also can walk to Bloemendaal over the beach and in Bloemendaal are restaurants where you can eat before the walk back to Zandvoort.
There`s a railway station near the coast of Zandvoort, which brings you in a little time to Amsterdam or Haarlem, both beautiful cities to visit for one day.
The center of Zandvoort has many restaurants and shops, which are open every day until 9 o`clock in the evening.
This year I went for 5 days to the same hotel as I did the year before, the Centerparcs Beach Hotel.
It`s a very nice hotel with good rooms, nice food and friendly people, one street away from the beach.
When you look out of the window from your room, you have got a great view over the beach, that`s really beautiful, especially when the sun goes down.
The hotel has a self serve restaurant for dinner and breakfast and the most important and impressing (for me) was the chocolate fountain!
That was very delicious and also addictive, better not to buy a chocolate fountain at home I decided.
In Zandvoort it`s always very windy, the wind almost blew me away and my long curly hair was always a mess, I often wished there I had straight hair!
Every day on the beach of Zandvoort there are many things to be found.
In search of floaters in all different colours and sizes, buoy`s, weather probes for sea research, fish crates and work-and water shoes, the beach comber works in all sort of weather.
All of this together with fortunately washed ashore and found bottle mail is to be seen in at the Beachcombers MuZEEum (museum) in Zandvoort on the beach.
The entrance is for free.

An other museum is the Zandvoort Museum, where you can enjoy the many beautiful, interesting, unique and impressing objects from the remarkable history of Zandvoort and her inhabitants, from the bathings costumes of by gone times till the modern art.
I really enjoyed this very small, but funny museum with the friendly people in it.
Most people in Zandvoort are very friendly to each other and the visitors.
