Summertime in the City

So there I was...on a bus from Chinatown DC to Chinatown NYC. It sort of felt like one of those buses you see in India where people, animals, and cargo are all jammed up in or on it. Nah--it wasn't really like that, but it was crowded and there were some dogs on it...When I got off the bus in Manhattan it was like being in China--no drama added. I then had to traverse the city to get to my sister's place. It was a straight shot and the NY subway system welcomed me with that familiar smell and look that is uniquely New York. We hung out and it's always a good time kickin' it with Tisha...if you want to know what's goin on in the city, she's like the oracle. On Tuesday, I got out and explored the city by my lonesome. I quickly began to realize that I needed a soundtrack to accompany me on my walks, so I went ahead and copped an MP3 player. Notice I didn't say an iPod. Unfortunately, I have this conspiracy theory floating around in my head that as an American, they've sort of culturally issued everyone an iPod, a Starbuck's coffee, and an SUV. Being the contarian that I am, I rebelled and bought a Sony. Sue me. Incidentally, I enjoyed myself thoroughly: I stumbled upon a concert in the Trump building, witnessed the frenzy of Canal St., rode the train with reckless abandon, and lived the good life in general. The soundtrack was clutch by the way...
