Apparently this guy is famous: Dr Carl from "Neighbours"...I used the English spelling by the way...
Melbourne looks like Canada.  It's huge and clean and bustling.  It's also cold right now, so I still haven't escaped the Aus/NZ curse of being cold all day everyday.  They seem to like to heat the outdoors, in Melbourne, however, so that sort of mitigates the cold.  The only big touristy thing I did in Melbourne was take a tour of some of the Australian wineries.  This was a good decision...I had a ball and met some great people.  The rest of the time I was just exploring the city and running where the wind took me.  I broke the law reapeatedly: they have these trams there that they don't really enforce payment.  I got away with it, but I can't recommend it.  Once I found out that they have plainclothes officials on the train I started paying:  the fine is like $160.

I really liked the vibe in Melbourne.  It's big, but it's not pretentious, and they seem to be really art oriented.  The architecture reminds me of New Orleans at times because there are parts that I guess the French designed.  4 days is not enough for Melbourne.  I think you need a good two weeks or so to do it right.  By the way, the Melbourne salsa scene is alive and well--my Pops would approve.

My next stop is Bangkok, and I'm only there for a few hours so I need to sleep on the plane to prepare myself for an all-nighter...
