Playa de Guajataca and lunch
May 21, 2008
Before we finally got to have lunch we stopped at Playa de Guajataca, a nice picnic area with a very nice view. We pulled over and explored a little, took tons of pictures. The camp ground has a bunch of very colorful trees and bushes. I love the Flamboyant, the red tree which is one of the common symbols for Puerto Rico. Enid and I had lots of fun posing for pictures. The view over the cliff was stunning. Blue sky, blue water and the sun shining up ahead. Or was it? For some reason one of the clouds above us that it was funny to relieve itself. So we got caught in the rain and were stuck underneath one of the picnic patios for about 10 minutes. It's stopped as quickly as it had begun and we were off for lunch.
We went to the restaurant La Quebrada just down the road from here for some sea food. The menu was huge and the food was great. As usual I ordered something that was a little questionable but that's when I start snacking off hubby's plate. I also had my first pina colada of this trip. Don't know what took me so long on that one. :) The kids won some stuffed animals from a machine by the entrance of the reastaurant and were happy.
After lunch, well late lunch, it was off to Rincon, no more stops. We'll we did stop a few times on the side of the road for various beach pictures and Indian heads in Isabella and once more at a rest stop to overlook Aguadilla again, but the weather was getting pretty bad and the rest of the ride was accompanied by heavy rain and partially flooded streets, but we made it to Rincon in one piece and without any more injuries! :)

Another pretty tree, white this …
Seafood in Quebradillas
This restaurant is a little hidden away in a residential area. It's not a fancy place but the food is great. Hopefully you'll be able to find it in case you want to check it out. A GPS might be helpful so ask your rental car place for one! I had my personal Puerto Rico guide Enid with me so I got lucky enough to experience this place.
The menu is huge! You can have your fish of choice prepared in several different ways and with different side dishes. The complimentary garlic bread is to die for. Typical Puerto Rican fried (banana)snacks, like Mofongos are also on the menu. We had the Shrimp cocktail as an appetizer. Big shrimps not the ones you sometimes get and go, "I paid 10 bucks for this?". Hubby had the Red Snapper, garlic grilled with mashed potatoes (8 out of 10 rating ;) and I had the Dorado fillet garlic grilled with beans and rice (10 out of 10 for the beans and a 6 out of 10 for the fish).
The tab for the whole group (5 adult and 2 kids)was $116 dollars with tip, so not bad at all for seafood.
If you are in the area you should check it out.
