Exploring Old San Juan on foot

Today we were going to go to the island of Culebra on the east coast of Puerto Rico but we kind of forgot to buy the tickets because of the whole emergency thing, so no pretty island for us. Well, except of course this one!
After breakfast at Denny's and waiting for the rain to stop in order for us to get to the car we made our way to Old San Juan. Enid, my darling friend, dropped us off at the center of Old San Juan so we could get some souvenirs and postcards. Mandatory of course, getting a magnet for the fridge, not that I didn't get one last time. lol I found one in a pirates theme which well, is my thing, but only if they are played by Mr. Depp or Mr. Bloom ;) .  The magnet was cool none the less. After picking up the postcards for the folks back home (which I won't be sending out until I get back to the main land) we went to a bar called "Nono's" which had been featured on our favorite travel/drinking show "Three Sheets" (on channel MOJO HD, in case you're interested). We walked in just to get a drink so we could use the restrooms. lol Yeah, silly but we couldn't find a public restroom anywhere.  So I asked the bartender if he was there the night that they were filming that TV show and he goes "Which one? There has been 3 different ones here". Then he added that the last one just a few weeks back had been for "HBO's Entourage", another favorite of Alex and I. He told us it was going to be aired in September of this year for the series finale. I was bummed to hear the show was going to be ending but psyched to sit in this bar. The bartender then pointed at the bar and said: "Oh, yes the whole cast was dancing on top of this bar and they were behind it too making Mojitos". I can't wait to see that on TV. After we finished our drinks (Pina Colada #2) we walked around Old San Juan some more. Saw some churches and an old city gates along the cobblestone streets and then we made it out of the small alleys and out to enjoy the view over the bay and maybe checking out one of the fortresses. We snapped a couple of pictures and then Enid came to pick us up to go to Paseo de la Princesa, which can also be easily reached on foot through the old gate of San Juan but we decided it was time for some AC. lol
After a short trip to the Paseo we parked the car and were walking again. The rain clouds had now all but disappeared over Old San Juan. I guess we got lucky with that. Walking down Paseo de la Princesa again was one of my wishes for the second trip to this island. The first time we did it at sunset which was nice but the pictures I took where horrible. lol So me, snap happy as I am, had to come back. Keep in mind that I only posted the creme de la creme of pictures here, there's about 200 more of just today. lol (Crazy!!)
Enid was our designated photographer so we could be in some of the pictures together. Woo hoo! Alex face now was back to almost normal so he didn't mind to be in them. Before you get to the beautiful walkway around the old city walls there is a huge mountain. Then you walk underneath very old trees towards the old city gate of Old San Juan. Lining the path past the gate are a LOT of stray cats. I only took pics of the ones that still looked alive and cat like and didn't have part of an ear bitten off. I remember seeing more of them last time so I guess they are getting that problem under control. They just look so sad in such a beautiful place makes you wanna take one home with you.
Just off shore was a boat with some party people BBQing and just enjoying the day. The pelicans were fishing, circling the bay for fresh fish. But before I start rambling, just look at the pictures. They speak louder then words! Enjoy guys!

In the evening we had a dinner date with the guys that went to the rain forest with us on day 2. We went to a Sushi restaurant in Isla Verde. Now, I would love to write a review about it, but getting their info is harder then finding an ex school mate's profile on the web. lol
However, the food was delicious! We decided, probably the best sushi we've ever tasted. The wait time was a little long, but then again we had ordered like 48 rolls (Phily, Boston, Cali, Tuna, etc) between the two of us. Hahaha No, we're not pigs, they just come in eights instead of sixes like we're used to. lol Imagine our surprise when our 2 (!) gigantic plates arrived at the table. lol We shared with the rest of the group and that left some room for the delectable fried cheesecake (picture) for dessert! 
After all that some "exercise" was in order. The group went to "Buffalo wings" at the airport. Yeah, we went partying at the airport. They had a live band playing Reggaeton, Merengue and other Latino beats. I remember from last time that there is usually live music in bars here, love it!! Hubby seemed to enjoy it too. Lots of couples dancing and a great atmosphere all around. Hard not to get in a partying mood.
Then it happened. Hubby and I went outside for some fresh air when he spotted the Hotel & Casino sign across the street. Up until this point I had hidden any existence  of a casino on the island from him. lol Of course he wanted to go check it out. But boo hoo, it was closed since it was already close to midnight. However Alex got Enid to drive us to a different casino.
Back in Isla Verde we went to the Marriott Courtyard Casino & Hotel. Since I don't gamble I can't tell anything about the casino, except that it is kinda small. Enid and I went outside and chilled at the beach for a while. The pool area is very nice at this hotel. Directly on the beach too. The lobby is also very nice with a huge bar across from the entrance and the casino. Also with a live band playing. After we were eaten by mosquitos  outside we sat down to maybe get a drink. However, none of the waitresses bothered to even look at us, so we went thirsty. After an hour and fourty five minutes we decided it was time to go home. After another 30 minutes hubby was finally ready to go. Because some lady had "put a curse on him" and he had lost his money. lol The ride home was uneventful, so I'll spare you the details. ;)
