Coral Bay Travel Blog | Travelogue | Travel Journal

My mum wanted to travel the west coast of australia for her 50th birthday. So, as expected we decided to pack our bags and jet oursleves over to the ningaloo reef/ coral bay for a weeks getaway. We swam with manta rays and had crystal clear water on our doorstep. We then made our way south towards Perth and made a necessary stopover onto Rottnest Island.. An amazing trip Sorry for the Lack of photos also... I was reliant on my mothers camera until I invested in one of my own recently...

paradise at your doorstep

This was possibly one f the most amazing trips of my life thus far.... My mum had wanted to go to Perth for her 50th to spend time with old friends and get away from reality for a short while. We planed a tripup to Coral bay for the 2 of us for 3 nights after hearing such great things through friends...... they were absolutely right!

We flew into exmouth early in the morning, we stepped outside and could already feel that dry desert heat hit us as we stood on this small air strip in the middle of a flat stretch of land coated in red sand.... We were picked up in the wagon by Bruce who took us on the 1 hr straight shot drive to coral bay.

We arrived to this quaint but stunning coastal town to find 2 general stores, a couple of restaraunts, 2 hotels, a hostel a caravan park and a pub! all with tourquoise blue water within arms reach. Our first night here consited of sitting on our back porch with a bottle of wine watching the sun set on this glorious place.

Over the next two days we did 2 diving tours, one in which we swam with a manta ray... this was amazing. The rays are such graceful creatures yet you cannot comprehend their size until you meet the up close. We also had the pleasure of swimming above 6 reef sharks which left mum questioning whether she'd actuallymake it to 50 haha, it was incredible how harmless a creatue they can be if not disturbed. We took this rip with some great people, chris and manny form germany, aimee from ireland and adrian from wales.... We all of course met up at the puc=b later that night polishng off bottomless jugs of beer until the wee hours of the morning... Mum even decided to cook up some fresh fish at some point which had been caught earlier that day from our melbournian friends..... what a night.

I would reccomend this area to anyone purely because it is so untouched and soless crowded than popular areas.... Its not too wel known and retains a smplistic beauty.... The townspeople were so friendly which made it even better.
