Paradise Village ~ Mexico ~ Paradise indeed!
On the 15th we were to meet Ray and Linda in the lobby of Paradise Village.. We packed and said good bye to cute little Hola Puerto Vallarta and took a bus to Paradise Village. We walked past the security gates and found the lobby. One little problem happened. The lobby had been changed from a wonderful huge lush tropical lobby area to another up the street. So we sat in one lobby and Ray and Linda sat at another. They were at least clever enough to get a margarita. We waited about 1/2 hour then David walked up street to try to find them I sat and worried then asked another guest if we were in the lobby. I was astonished when she said no.
A new one was built and was up the street. Yikes. I put my backpack on and carried David's case up the street. In about a block David came hurrying to me. He explained that there was a new lobby.... (Yeah.... old news to me...) and Ray and Linda were probably at the other one. We walked quickly to the lobby.... Amazingly, it was grander and more tropical and beautiful than the one we just left Ray and Linda were sitting with drinks talking and we hugged greetings..... So great to see them again! We registered and got our "resort" bracelets.Although we were supposed to be at the "motel" part of the Paradise Village we got a room near the Lobby.. We were astonished at how wonderful it was.
We took photographs. It had wonderful bamboo furniture with tropical print cushions...: it had two bathrooms, a kitchen, living room, deck and bedroom. Linda and I walked over to the spa. I made an appointment for a massage the next morning. The spa was incredible: serene and cool. I wouldn't have minded staying there all afternoon. We went out to the beach to have lunch at the bistro there. I had a fabulous hamburger. We went out to the palopo and sat watching the kids play in the waves. I bought a beach coverup for swim suits from a vendor. Several vendors came by carrying heavy blankets, cases of jewelry and clothing items.
It's a hard life being a vendor. . They are not pushy and do not approach unless they are summoned. Linda had purchased a coverup from a lady the day before and called to her when she walked by. She had probably 20 coverups and 10 little girl dresses as well as a dozen or so ladies dresses. The weight must have been tremendous! Many people in Mexico work very, very hard. Linda and Ray's daughter Laura came down to the beach with her 3 year old.. while Linda and Laura talked, Olivia and I made sand castles. She was a very bright little girl. I told her she needed to show grandma the castle. Linda goes by "Nana" (I forgot that.. .) and Olivia went up to David and said "grandma, look at our sand castle." David didn't even blink... he admired it then looked at me like.. What??? And we realized the only person Olivia didn't know was david and when I said show grandma so she thought his name was grandma.... oh, how cute is that???? We sat out on the beach until sunset then we decided to go to a Brazilian Restaurant. They serve mosty meat but that sounded fun to us.The Restaurant was in the mall of the Paradise village. We walked up the street about 6 blocks. As we walked we passed a small zoo and many beautiful flowers... The mall itself was awesome! It had a huge number of stores and restaurants as well as a grocery store and an internet center.
... we stopped by the internet briefly then walked up to the restaurant. Their meat was some of the best I have ever had. They bring a huge slab of meat to your table and slice pieces off onto your plate. Prime rib, pork, barbeque meat, .... Amazing variety! My camera battery died and I only got a few photos.....We went back to the rooms.... David and I looked around and truely regretted that we were only going to be there one night. What an absolutely fabulous room!

The check in was a bit cumbersome as Linda and Ray had a time share there and we were staying at the motel part. We stood in line and got the bracelets that flagged us as guests.. It took about 30 minutes to stand in line and complete the paperwork. Finally we got the key and walked down hall. Linda noticed right away that they had not put us into the main motel part and had put us in the main building. We believe they had a shortage of rooms in the motel but that worked for us!
We loved the room. As we first walked in there was a short hall way that had a bath room off of it and a small table that had two complimentary waters. The living room had a couch, two chairs, two side table, coffee table, satellite television, radio, CD player, glass topped table and two chairs. It had a fan to help circulate the air in both the bedroom and the living room. The bed was one of the few comfortable motel beds we have ever slept on.
The grounds were totally amazing. We have never seen such a variety of flowers, trees and birds. It was better than any garden I have ever experienced. The Pool was a series of areas that had bridges and alcoves. Olivia and Laura had spent the day at the pool and had a great time.
The on thing that needs really serious work is the zoo. It is pitious to see the animals in small cages along a busy walk way and road way. There were birds, monkeys and tigers. The zoo needs to be re-done and moved off of the street. The cages are cramped but looked clean. It is sad to see animals in less than nice quarters.
The mall had clothing, shoe and jewelry stores. It had a Jungle type of restaurant that appeared to copy Rain Forest Cafe. They had mcdonalds, a launder mat, mexican, italian, pizza, brazilian, coffee shops, grocery store (with some good prices on pre-made food), and an internet cafe. It was upscale and fairly nice inside.
All in all we would go there again.... It isn't cheap but it is a cut above. ...
One thing people don't know is that Paradise Village has apartments / condos that can be rented furnished for about $1600-1800 per month. If we took our kids down it would be perfect as the motels would run quite a bit more than that. It seems this is a closely guarded secret that we heard when we were in Mayan Village. Linda and Ray checked them out and really liked them.
