A week in the Galapagos

A week aboard a yacht in the Galapagos has to be the most amazing thing that we´ve done so far and will be without a doubt one of the highlights of our trip! We spent an amazing 8 days on a great boat (the Friendship), cruising around the archipielago, wandering around the different islands and snorkelling in the waters. The wildlife was fantastic in it´s variety and the fact that (due to the lack of natural predators) most are quite curious and have no fear. Sea Lions were constantly walking up to us and swimming around us in the water, zooming in for better views, biting flippers and playing around. You had to be on constant alert not to step on iguanas, sea lion pups, birds, crabs, penguins.
Arlene went for a SCUBA dive and came face to face with +40 Hammerhead sharks! She was able to sit on the bottom of the ocean while they swam past and around her...absolutely amazing! (Tris didn't get to go down as he was given a faulty regulator and was a bit paniced due to not being able to breath... bummer).
Even the islands themselves were spectacular. They were all created by volcanic eruptions at different times so they're dramatically different, from lush cloud forests; to barren rocky deserts; to fresh (only 100 years old) lava fields with wierd moonlike landscapes and formations.
We ended up seeing everything that we had hoped to see and much much more. Words can't really describe the place, so you´ll have too look at the selection of the 1500 odd photos that we took ;-)
