School holidays hits with full force. We can't get a campsite in the main camping area. We end up in a remote camp site on our own. Pre-kids we would have loved it but I have to say it made me a big nervous - to be camping so close to big crocodiles. We only see one baby croc in our travels. From our car we also see a wild pig and serveral snaeks.
Further up Cape York we enjoy some cattle stations - Merluna and Bramwell included. We make some friends with other families at Merluna and even get to visit one of them at their home in Weipa. We did the mine tour at Weipa which is a lot more interesting than it sounds.
We manage to get stuck in a big bog hole near the tip of Cape York. We have to use the sat phone to get pulled out. The kids sat undisturbed in the back seat watching the DVD. We do the walk to the tip with every man and his dog.
We also tried Seisha which was nice. The kids found the pier interesting. Though I found it off putting walking along the beach with a croc watching my youngest from the water. We had heard dogs regularly disappear from the beach
We also enjoy Chilli Beach. The kids love playing on the beach and we found a cafe at Portland roads that serves real coffee.
