Jenn and Lola's adventures:
After the ferry from Venice to Patras (21 hours) :S... Laura and I hopped on a train to Athens and then another ferry to the greek isle, Santorini. While we were awaiting our ferry, we actually randomly ran into Laura's friends Erin and Meg from Guelph. We all grabbed some wine and caught up, sharing stories on the 9 hour night ferry to Santorini. Once we arrived at 7 in the morning, we were astonished by the beauty of the isle. ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS, as you can all see for yourselves. There is a volcano in Santorini that has been bubbling for years. Our first day, Laura and I got an apartment close to the girls and decided to surpise them when we showed up with 4 Wheelers for the day.
We began our adventures by driving to Parissa beach, where the sand is black. After, we went on an adventure through some small villages, and grabbed a delicious traditional greek meal for lunch in Kamari
(Saganaki, Kalamari, and Souvlaki)...mmmm.
That evening, we all got dressed up and went for dinner after Laura and I did a nice offroading adventure of our own, SO FUN! We had some wine and ended our long day.
The next day, we layed around the sister pool of the girls we met up with, which was ABSOLUTELY posh and relaxing. Laura and I are onto our next isle, Ios. Getting ready to party.
On our 4 hour ferry to Ios, we met these wonderful ladies, Claire, Robin and Linda from London England and Ireland. They were delightful and we ended up getting a room in their same hotel.
The next bunch of pictures are just snap-shots of the scenery from the train ride between Patras and Athens
Since we arrived later that evening, we all fancied dinner so we all went to town and then to bed. The next day, Laura and I took a 30 minute boat ride to a nearby SANDY beach :D... it was really relaxing and secluded which was nice. After we got back to the room, all us girls partied and Laura and I got to learn and watch some traditional irish dancing... soo fun! After, we went to a Legendary thai food restaurant which was the best thai food Ive ever had, at a nearby town and then out for a greek bar night. We danced the night away to rock, hip hop, oldies and heavy metal... what a mix! Jenn ended with a nice dip in the pool after the bar :D
The next day we were a tad under the weather, so after breaky with the girls, we went hunting for a pedicure since our feet are soo worn out from travelling. We did some shopping at the town and went for our pedicure closeby.
We actually found out there was an earthquake on another greek isle which is pretty crazy. We said our goodbye's to our friends and took a superfast ferry (3 hours, supposed to be 8), which was extremely fast and nausiating. We arrived in Athens at 1 a.m, found our hotel and had a nice sleep. The following day, we had 3 hours to tour Athens before we could catch the ONLY train leaving because they were on strike for 1 day, which happens a lot in Europe! :( So, we toured the Acropolis and caught the train in time to get to Patras. While we awaited our night ferry to Corfu
, where we would meet Martin and Stef, we grabbed dinner where we had many laughs and before we knew it, we were in Corfu at 6:30 a.m. The night ferry was so uncomfortable considering we were freezing and had to sleep on the floor, so needless to say we were so happy to finally arrive in Corfu at the legendary and world famous hostel, The Pink Palace :D
