We thought we would provide you all with an update from our lovely travels in Amsterdam.
The Vita Nova- our small hostel room included 2 single beds and 1 sink... it was on a houseboat which was pretty cool. Our days began with a wholesome breakfast including bread, cheese and meat.... no kidding. These were also converted into our lunchtime snacks on the go. We ventured on day #2 using bicycles which is the main mode of transportation for almost all amsterdamians!!! Be sure to never walk on the red path if travelling to Amsterdam... we found out the hard way through the abusive use of bicycle bells. We travelled all throughout the city, visiting churchs, parks, red light district, and homes from the 17th and 18th centuries. In the evening, we pursued this wonderfully delicious asian eatery, called Nam Key. After we went to a local pub for some beers and then ventured to the docks.
On day #3, we met friends of Stef´s family - Joost and Achky (nic name for Agnes). We stayed there for the night, and were taken on a detailed auto tour of northern holland. We went out on the town to a local pub. On this journey, we experience some great belgium beer as well as some traditional Holland foods such as Bitterballen. What a great way to begin our European adventures!
