Dresden!!!
May 25, 2008
We travelled to Dresden to visit Stef's mom's cousin Frank, his wife Antje and their two kids, Emily and Ben. Frank and Emily picked us up from the train station and then we drove through the city to get a feel for it. Dresden is a beautiful city with lots of trees, castles, churches (including the famous Frauenkirche, the Luthern church of the people as a proclaimation of power against the King of Dresden) and the Elbe river. Frank and Antje's house was an old Pension set near the side of the mountain. It was a really nice view from up there!
The next day Jenn and I rode into the city using Frank and Antje's bikes to see the Opera house, the churches and to bike along the Elbe. At night Frank took us to an authentic Beer Garten where we had Dresden beer and a delicious meal of meat, potato dumplings and sauerkraut! Mmmmmm! It was a great visit and we were so happy to have their excellent hospitality.... and to have a quiet place to catch up on sleep (hostels can be loud and exhausting). We especially loved playing Hide and Seek in German with Emily! Thanks guys!
