Take a short hike...or a long hike...it's all good...

I had only a bit of time on Sunday morning for a short 4 hour hike, so my friend, and my trusty dog (Tuggs), did a wee bit of a hike around Thetis Lake Park, was close to home and no snow!!!!!!

Take a short hike...or a long hike...it's all good...

To the left or to the right...darn which way should I go:):)
It was around 900am, my friend met me at Serious coffee, before taking a wee bit of a hike on Sunday morning.  The day started out sunny, then got cool, a wee bit of rain, then warm again....I think the island has a very strange weather system this year (hahaha) Because I only had a few hours for a hike we decided on Thetis Lake Park.  It is very close to Victoria only about a 15 minute drive from town, and a half way point to where I live.  So it is very central, it's a great area to take kids, dogs, people, you can walk the many trails around one lake or two, there are trails that go on for miles...and miles...or just sit and hang out at the beach and enjoy the sun.  some dive off the cliffs, others swim all over the lakes, some just sit a people watch.

..it's a really cool little getaway from it all lake when you don't want to drive to far....I sometimes just go there on my way home from work to just stop and take a stroll, unwind, then come home.

So we did not go around the lake...go figure.  We went up Seymour and Scafe hills.  These hills have a lot of undulating hills, lots of up's and downs so was a good workout for my legs but was worth seeing the view. There are wildflowers everywhere and an awesome sight.  I will stop by the lake one day after work and take photos for you all...but wanted to share a bit of the hills and beyond and all with no snow (hahaha).......So come with me through the Garry Oaks, the wildflowers and the Douglas fir forest.

My poor old wee Tuggs (he's 9) I think I wore him all out, he is sitting here beside me as I type this still resting from yesterday.

History wise I have not learned much about it, but here is a bit.
This regional conservation area was established in 1958.
Size of park and trails 831 hectares
Located on the west side of Victoria 12k's from the city centre.

Really it is a park designed for everyone.
No gas boats, only electric motors, paddlers, swimming, and hiking.

So come and enjoy!
