It's (very)warm, it's (over)crowded, it's (very)small, it's got (lots of) nice food...and it became my second home country!

Let's check in

We took the MRT from Changi Airport to down town Singapore. At Dhoby Ghaut MRT station we got of and walked over to Bencoolen Street, the location of Bayview Hotel. The last time we were in Singapore (Oct. 2006) we noticed that this hotel was undergoing renovations and had a change of management. Now the work was finished and it promised to be a nice improvement. To acclimatize we check in to a hotel first each time, afterall...back home Holland it was around freezing when we left and now we're all of a sudden in tropical temperatures. Which reminds me, it was rather weird to see the trees so green here when back home nature still in a deep winter sleep;)

Nice hotel, good location and not too expensive
Since Bayview Hotel in Singapore changed management and a recent upgrade it turned into quite a lovely hotel I think. Despite the somewhat aged outside looks the interior now looks refreshing and stylish. The rooms have a modern but cozy atmosphere with all necessities available. The superior room we booked at the time wasn’t like exceptionally big but big enough not to bump into each other the whole time. The staff we encountered was also friendly and helpful. One remark though, we arrived early morning after a 13 hour flight from Europe to find out they weren’t able to give us the room before 12 noon. That left us craving a shower and some sleep for at least 4 hours.

Apart from that I think Bayview Hotel is good value for money and certainly worth to look into if your planning to stay in Singapore.

Furthermore the hotel as a rooftop swimming pool with a nice view over downtown Singapore. It also has an excellent location near Dhoby Ghaut MRT station. Several malls and shopping streets are within walking distance too. Same as Kopitiam Foodcourt, which is just around the corner for your favorite dishes.
