Day 2 : The Aftermath

"I had a terrible night rest", BJ said when he woke in the snore palace that was our hotel room. "Well, I didn't sleep to bad, I just has this very weird dream." "That wasn't a dream Ed", BJ replied, with a big grin. Dazed and confused we all took our showers and refreshed and we hadn't even checked out properly when my mobile phone rang. It was Anna, asking where we all were. I explained that we were checking out and would be at the Groenplaats in a couple of minutes.
Since BJ's feet were part of his body that had continued to sleep we opted for the subway instead of a 20 minute walk this time. Not that it proved much of a time saver because it took us quite a while to crack the code of the enigma that is the subway of Antwerp. Still, we arrived at the Groenplaats safe and sound and joined Anna, Wendy, Joost and Devika for a refreshing cup of coffee or ice tea.
Small sub-groups joined the club over the next 1,5 hour but the original plan to have lunch at 12 fell apart. The plan proved to be a bit too ambitious for the average state of mind of the previous nights party animals. ;-)
I had offered Devika a drive back to Uden, where we both live, so the group lunch never happened. Time constraints forced us to say goodbye one more time and part of the group went hunting for Belgian waffles. Most of the better waffles shops were closed though but refusing to leave the city without having tasted at least something that remotely looked like a waffle we finally found one. A quick walk to a chocolate shop where BJ and Derk bought some candy for Mother's Day (although I'm not sure if the pralines ever made it to the Dutch border) and the three of us plus Devika were off to the subway.
adds to the overall excitement. ;-)
After picking up the car and dropping off BJ and Derk at their vehicle parked at the Metropolis we were off northwards to Holland. Traffic was good today and we arrived back in Uden well in time for Devika to prepare for work (and even post some messages!). ;-)
All in all a splendid weekend. Beautiful weather, wonderful people, nice food and great beers. When's the next one !? ;-)
P.S. To everybody: thanks for all the fun during these two days. To Sylvie and Pieter: thanks for organising this and making it all happen. You're marvellous !
