I booked a Spanish course in Antigua, Guatemala. I love the Spanish language. So I hoped that I would do better picking up the language in a Spanish speaking country - I had a 2 week course! The family I was staying with was great and after all I managed to speak some Spanish.....

Guess what happened! I went to the carousel and checked for my baggage and of course it was NOT there!!! hmmm I thought maybe they checked all the way through to Guatemala City - but then on the other side I knew everyone has to pick up the luggage go through customs and put it back on the carousel. What now!! I decided to walk through customs without it then and ask the lost and found staff, but first I had to pass the nice customs officer!!!

He looked at me and then immediately started yelling at me: "Where is your luggage!!!" I explained that it was not there and I checked a couple times and all the others carousels as well.... but that did not help - he kept yelling at me. I felt like a criminal - I would have been very happy to have my stuff - BUT it was not there!!! Anyway after telling him 5 times that I did check the carousel and I did not see it, he let me pass! So I went to the gate for the Guatemala City flight!
