Breakfast at the hotel again, with Ashley charming all within her sight.
Walked through Hyde Park again, past the Peter Pan statue and the Diana memorial. Got to Buckingham Palace in time for the changing of the guards only to be told that due to the abysmal weather, cold and wet, the ceremony was cancelled for the day. Bugga. We did manage to see a small motorcade whiz by, not sure who it was. Then just as we were leaving some of the horseguards trotted by. We continued our walk (faces freezing in the wet) down to Pall Mall in search for a hot coffee. Then walked down to Trafalger Square to see the Nelson Column. Interestingly, the pidgeon control was a falconer!! How cool. Nick tried to get up on one of the lions but it was too wet so a photo by its side would just have to suffice.
Walked further down towards Number 10 and then the Cabinet War Rooms. Lunch was at a pub, fish and chips, yum. Anyhoo, the War Rooms were really well maintained. Very impressive and definately a London Must Do.
Then it was off again to try and catch Westminster Abbey but it was closed so we caught the Hop On / Hop Off bus back to near our hotel. Cam and Nick went down and did some washing while KL and Ashley had a rest. While the washing was going Cam and Nick went next door to the pub where Nick had dinner and Cam had a beer. Nick was kind enough to babysit his little sister for a couple of hours and Cam and KL headed next door for Malaysian. The food was great but unfortunately we had to skip dessert because Ashley decided it was time for Mum and Dad so we had to head home.
All in all a great day although it was the coldest we had been fro a long time. The wet wind chill factor was freezing!
