Today was an early start and down the toll road to Florence. Didn't take as long as we though on the expressway doing 140kph. Found a carpark on the outskirts and decided to walk the rest of the way. Walked through some beautiful old streets and of course had a Gelati for morning tea. Then headed to the main cathederal. After lining up in the rain for about 30 minutes we got to the front only to be told that it was not the correct entry. Went round teh front to find no queue and walked straight in. Was ok but nothing special after the one in Siena. The dome was painted by Michelangelo though! We then headed to the museum where 'The Statue of David' is on display. That was quite good and only a small queue. We then committed a crime and had McDonalds for lunch. OOPS!!!! We then headed to the river and found Vecchio Bridge and did the photo piece there. We then found the Palazzo where all the painters hang out and the Piazza where the statue of David was origanally displayed. It was fantastic. Took lots of photos and did the thing to do by having a coffee and cake in a cafe. Not everyday you get served by a gentleman in a suit, white jacket and bow tie! Bloody Expensive though! Ashley then sat (posed) for her picture to be drawn. Smiled at teh artist the whole time and was her beautiful self. Headed back to the car and home. We to La Briciola for dinner again. YUM YUM!
