Bayeux, a very pretty village

Bayeux Travel Blog | Travelogue | Travel Journal

The newly expanded Dixon family went on holiday to Europe. We have travelled throughout France and touched on Germany, Luxembourg, Belgium and Spain. Then went onto Tuscany, Italy for a week and Rome for four nights. Back to Paris through Austria and Switzerland and a week in Paris. Then on to London for four nights before heading back to Australia.

Bayeux, a very pretty village

On the road from Amiens, after visiting the cathedral which is the largest in France. Surprised anything remains though after seeing some 1944 photos of the area. The church itself is very impressive!! Worth the visit even if you dont believe in Jebus.

Tried to visit the old fort in Caen but all the road in the centre of the city were blocked for some Christmas parade or sumfink so we gave it up as a bad joke and headed off to Bayeux.

Checked into Campanile hotel on the edge of town. Went into town for a walk and dinner and saw HEAPS of cheaper, nicer, local style hotels. Bugga. Oh well. Another road block or 10 for Christmas but it was a very pleasant walk around the town. A very pretty village, medieval and full of character. Once again saw heaps of great kids clothes shops. (ashley didnt score here though).

All restaruants were either closed or not yet ready to serve dinner so we ended up heading back to the chain motel for dinner. Nick managed to score the tastiest duck breast ever! Overall the meal there was pretty good. Ashley charmed everyone once again of course.
