The newly expanded Dixon family went on holiday to Europe. We have travelled throughout France and touched on Germany, Luxembourg, Belgium and Spain. Then went onto Tuscany, Italy for a week and Rome for four nights. Back to Paris through Austria and Switzerland and a week in Paris. Then on to London for four nights before heading back to Australia.

Amiens and the Somme

Nick at the Australian War Memorial at Villers-Bretennoux

Drove into the Somme region from Belgium today. Stopped off at Villers-Bretennoux (again for Cam and I). We wanted to show Nick the Australian War Memorial there. He was impressed.

Had lunch in the car... the usual baguette, ham and cheese. Off towards Amiens for the night, staying at a Premier Class hotel. Nice cheapy hotel thats clean and big enough for a cot (just). Nick got his own room for the first time so he was pretty happy. Just as well its cheap. The boys then disappeared to do the laundry (phew!) and then we all went, dont hate us here..... to the Buffalo Grill for dinner. Mind you though, Great ribs and steaks. Must get used to the French version of a medium done steak... it would be classed as 'rare' in Australia. Yum all the same.

Next day off south to Normandy.
