Switzerland-Blog 1
The last stop on my Europe adventure in 2005 was Switzerland. What a great way to end a trip. Switzerland is very clean, quiet, slow paced and safe. I stayed in Zurich and did day trips on the train to Bern, Engleberg, Mt.Titlis and Luzern.
Mt.Titlis is must if you're in Switzerland. It is in the heart of the Swiss Alps in the town of Engelberg. The last part of the train trip there is a slow climb about as straight uphill as I can imagine a train going. From there it takes 3 cable cars to get to the top, 10,000 ft asl. I was there June 1 and people were skiing on top. There's also an ice cavern you can explore , i believe the term for it is grotto. Plan to spend a few hours on top, relax and enjoy the view. On the way up or down you can hear a symphony of cow bells from the cattle grazing below. It can be cloudy, so try to go on a clear day. I was fortune in that it was perfectly clear for my trip, however on the way down the clouds had moved in and I couldn't see a thing.
See my other blog about Switzerland from this same trip!
