Delayed for a bit

May 10 marked the start of a cruise land tour to Alaska that began in Vancouver for 2 nights, a 7 day cruise of the inside passage with ports of call to Juneau, Ketchikan and Skagway and then a land tour to Prudhoe Bay, Coldfoot, Fairbanks, Denali Park and Anchorage. Saw some great wildlife and met some equally great people.

Delayed for a bit

our cabin-we had to get Dino to make the bed into twin beds

9:30am: Got things ready for departure and went to the Princess representatives at our hotel to be told to come back at 11:30 because the ship was delayed coming into port due to stormy weather out of San Francisco. She said our ship would still be leaving on time but we wouldn't be transferred to it until about 1pm. So we used the internet and had a $6 bagel in the hotel restaurant.

11:30am: We were able to get our Princess cruise card and check in for embarkation at the hotel "Princess room" which made it very nice. Hung out and talked to others doing the cruise and seeing if anyone else was doing the Arctic land tour but no one was.

1pm: Delayed a bit longer. For some reasons there was a delay with the shuttles to the ship.

2pm: We were gotten taxi's with vouchers and sent to the ship (finally!) This time the driver was nice, talked to us about our hockey team and didn't give us any grief about the vouchers.

Long line for security but it went quickly and instead of have to be in the crowded room of people getting their cruise cards, we were able to walk on by
and board the ship. How great that was! I heard a lady saying "How did they get their cards already?". lol

3pm: Arrived at our stateroom on the Caribbean deck and met our steward, Dino. Went up to the Horizon Court to eat. Very crowded but the waiter found us a seat with a couple from New Zealand and we chatted. It was also nice that the waiters came around and offered drinks like tea, coffee and water, etc.

6pm: We had the early dinner seating and sat with a couple from Illinois and 4 ladies from Texas who were all really nice! Our waitress was Lourdes from Mexico and her assistant was Ramone; also from Mexico. For an appetizer, I got a lobster tourain?sp? which was different, good mushroom soup, seafood shrimp puffed pastry (good) and a delectable Love Boat Dream chocolate moose!
