On last Coal Town...
Heading back home and soon off to new adventures, I decided to squeeze in one more old coal town--Mahoney City.
Well, "city" is a bit of a misnomer, since Mahoney only has one street--but, a very, very LONG street--sandwiched between two hills and with endless rowhouses crammed together--gives the town an distinct character... And it seems that no two rowhouses were alike--each built a little bit different...
Once I'd walked almost the entire length of the "street" I headed up the hill to hike along one of them blackened coal trails in the forest--even took a little clip there...
And that was it...my last parkbenching session in the USA for who knows how long... Next session will be somewhere in Africa...
So that's the end of this blog--49 towns in 3 months, covering Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia, New Jersey, New York, Conneticut and Ontario, Canada... It's been fun...
...But the next set will be funner... a WHOLE LOT funner...
