A typical Northeastern city

I've kicked off my 2008 Parkbenching Tour by hitting a couple more cities right here in North America...

A typical Northeastern city

I'd visited Trenton once before--on my way to South America in 05 I think it was...

I remember walked down a "skid row" kind of street and suddenly realizing that everyone was looking at me and coming towards me... one fellow muttered something about selling me drugs--I decided to turn around and get out of that street...

One of the few times that I've done that--I'm not usually a "retreat" kind of guy.

Well, now I'm back, this time with my guitar, hopefully to have a more positive experience.  Kind of a mixed impression on the town... on one side of the street there'll be an abandoned old warehouse--on the other side there'll be an old warehouse converted into a spiffy little shopping center... Overall, Trenton does have a bit of a grungy feel--it's one of those cities that never fully recovered from the loss of industry--and the riots back in the 60s didn't help much either...  But folks are friendly... see a lot of folks chilling with the neighbors out in front of their row houses out on the East Side...

Nice little parkbenching spot near the War Monument (a major revolutionary battle was fought in Trenton)
