Remember Elizabeth?  It's where I ended up last September on my little "hike" from downtown Newark to the airport--almost missing my flight.  Well, ever since then it's bothered my that I hurried through the town without giving it a proper parkbenching.

So now I'm back.  After dropping my brother off at JFK Airport, I head across the bridge to New Jersey and park my car right near the Goethels Bridge.  Hiking through the quiet side streets, you'd think that this was Anytown anywhere in the USA--only when you try to cross Highway 1 or see the commuter train station do you remember that this is a New York City suburb.

Downtown Elizabeth has a very stately looking skyscraper of its own (yes, just one) and an interesting Main Street with various ethnic shops and restaurants... seems to be a bit of a South American influence here...

The Colombian restaurant looks especially good--just a bit pricey for me... so I settle for some take out fried chicken.

If there is a lot of crime here in Elizabeth, I'm not feeling it...

Afterwards I make a quite trip north to Newark to retake my video clip there.  (The first one I took, I had the camera turned sideways--and I haven't been able to figure out how to rotate a video clip...) And back to Pennsylvania...
