I finally reach JFK to pick up my brother.  But rather than go straight home as any reasonable host would, I figure I'll try to coax my brother to continue with me on an all night road trip.  This way, I can stay in Dream Mode and—if all goes well, be able to share this experience with someone else.  Other than my 2 day trip to Tafraoute with Youssef, I’ve never had someone actually accompany my on a Dream Mode adventure. It’s already midnight with I pick him up at the airport but he seems willing to go along we my plan.  So after quickly briefing him on how the whole thing works, we head up north to see what we can find.  I’ve already done New York City, so I’d rather we discover a brand new city together.  After about an hour of winding up a New York parkway, we take an exit to White Plains.

White Plains definitely has a party vibe going on.  The bars are full and overflowing on Main Street--but we want some place quiet to chat first, and since we're both pretty stingy, we hang out at a 24 hour diner instead... Then, after catching up on each others lives (last time we traveled together was back in 2000 he was a cashier at Burger King--now he's a Funeral Director with a lot of interesting stories to tell...) we head back to the car to grab my guitar and go find a suitable park bench.

We wander off away from the bustling town center, past silent office buildings with weird modern art sculptures in front and high rise apartment buildings. There we find a picnic table  and we start jamming away…

After two songs, we see a police car pull up.  Something tells me that he’s not coming to listen to my music.  Yep, sure enough, he’s coming to chase us off.  We head on our way—I’m feeling really underappreciated by White Plains…

But then again, it is 3 o’clock in the morning…

All the same, White Plains will still be on my favorite list of towns I’ve parkbenched—it was just fun to have some company and to be able to share that experience together…

We’ll have to come back here later—during daylight so I can take my clip and I can finish my set…
