So after an interesting experience with some of the locals (Pennsylvania = Philly to the East, Pittsburgh to the West, Alabama in the Middle) we asked around to find a suitable campsite for the Hyundai. What we found instead was something we didn't expect, a roller coaster. Not just any roller coaster, but the "6th Best Wooden Roller Coaster in the World!".
I honestly cannot make this up. The woman at the booth couldn't have been more excited for us to check it out. We could not let her down here so we decided to fork over the $6 a piece and simply LIVE lol. That said it actually was a decent coaster if I do say so myself. With that we decided to bump it up to "5th Best Wooden Rollar Coaster in the World" and move on.
From there we found many ugly trailer campsites and started to get discouraged. Then we found a brochure at the info center (thank God for info centers) that led us another 25 or so miles west onto the border of Ohio and Pennsylvania to our site.
After a fun night involving a few good beers, some quality cigars, a few shared stories between good friends, and a raccoon that found some left over chips (and refused to leave), we decided to wake up early and hit the high road. Or the low road, they all look the same in the Midwest...
Just a side note, it turns out with my lack of camping experience a raccoon rummaging outside makes me react the same as if an 800 pound grizzly bear was eating our tent from the outside with us in it. Camping is great, but it may take me some practice before I go pretending I'm an Eagle Scout again...
