We put our walking shoes on and showed up at the main train station at 6:30 am to see where the train could take us. Luckily for us, I knew how to say three things in German: Hello, thanks, and I am a jelly doughnut.

Dresden

A quick 2 and half hour train ride got us right into the center of Dresden. THis was the perfect city to do for a day trip because almost all of the historical sights were in the same area, about a five minute walk from the train station. One of the most interesting buildings we saw was the Frauenkirche, or the Church of Our Lady. It was completely destroyed in the bombing of Dresden in WWII, but has now been completely restored. We "ascended to the copola", for which there were many warnings of how hard it was to climb and to be sure that you were in proper physical shape. These warnings were perhaps too severe...although, I am an expert and climbing to the top of tall buildings now.
