Flattop Mountain
September 5, 2006
Before we had to head to the airport on our last day, Mark and I returned to Chugach State Park to hike to the top of Flattop Mountain. Parts of this hike are thigh-burning climbs up long stairs or rocky slants. Orange spray paint is the only way to figure out how to traverse some of the rocks. Once you reach the top, you are afforded great views of Anchorage and Turnagain Arm below. It is very windy at the top and there is absolutely no protection from the wind.
