Chugach
September 4, 2006
This was the clearest day of our trip. It was so clear that you could see Mount McKinley from Anchorage. We had already decided to grab some picnic food to have lunch in the Chugach Mountains, but we were surprised to see how many people had the same idea. Apparently this is fairly rare, so the locals were taking the opportunity to see the mountain as well. It was also Labor Day, so that probably didn't hurt. We hiked to a couple of different vantage points, and we even spotted some moose. That night, my brother and I went to a local sports bar called The Peanut Farm to watch the college football season opener between Miami and Florida State.
