At sky Habor Airport picking up Roselle
I planned the Tucson Travbuddy meet up for months in advance, since the Las Vegas Travbuddy meet up during which Melanie (mellemel8) convinced me a meet up in Tucson would be grand in November. I did not have to do much in the following months except call a few restaurants to reserve dinner and lunch respectively. Most TBs book their own accommodations so I did my part in listing a few hotels that were close to the meeting point. In the end, every one was accommodated comfortably.
Two months to the meet up I began feeling a little under the weather but thought little of it.
Beginning of October I became ill and seriously considered canceling the meet up. My doctors could not diagnose the problem leaving me frustrated and worried. Seven tests later and I still had no answers yet the palpitations and chest pains ensued, sometimes leaving me totally drained. Middle of October my girlfriends from Switzerland visited for ten days: they were both shopping for wedding dresses, something that I would not volunteer to do again, LOL! Two weeks left and I’m seriously considering canceling everything: meanwhile the enthusiastic TBs are sending me comments about how excited they are lol! One week left and Roselle calls me saying shse had her flight booked months in advance and that she had sent me her travel itinerary. Tim (TYoungTX) sends me a message asking if he can come a day early and this was like an adrenaline boost. I lost all thoughts of canceling and made an appointment with my Dr. one more time pending my visit to a cardiologist: my Dr.

The Wednesday preceding the met up, Rosy’s husband Dan called to let me know that Rosy is uncontainably excited to come to Tucson. We spent an hour talking before Rosy came on the phone: she was all packed and ready to go, she wanted to know if I will be there to pick her up. Rosy was scheduled to arrive in Tucson at 2:15 p.m. on Thursday, I could not wait to finally meet the person I had talked to for months on end without ever meeting. But as fate would have it, Rosy missed her morning flight on Thursday and immediately called me to tell me what had happened. The airline (UNITED) had refused her boarding because she arrived an hour to departure, can you believe it? The rest of the details are much too annoying to write about.
To cut it short, Rosy had to get on a flight arriving the next day into Phoenix: this flight cost her an additional six hundred dollars and she was not even arriving in Tucson. All of a sudden I had to make arrangements to drive into Phoenix the morning of the pre-meet. Tim had arrived as scheduled at midnight on Thursday. So Tim and I set off to Phoenix to pick up Rosy. Along the way Dan called to let us know he had arrived in Tucson, Megan called to let me know she would meet us on Saturday, while Jim had a similar scenario as Rosy *(flight problems). So the merry making began, Tim and I picked up Roselle from Phoenix's Sky Harbour airport .

I had scheduled a tour of the Air and Space museum for those attending the pre-meet.
I booked three months in advance for 15 people and John (the guide) was looking forward to showing us around. But I had to face the fact that we would not make the tour considering the fact that we were not close to making the 3:00 p.m. time for the tour. Tim, Rosy and I were driving in from Phoenix and by 4:00 p.m. we had barely made it to Marana. Poor Dan kept calling and I thought we would make it maybe thirty minutes late, which didn’t happen. Most of the crew did not make it to the Air & Space museum as agreed. So many changes made it impossible even for the host (me) to arrive in time for the 3:00 p.m. pre-scheduled tour of the Air & Space museum. When we finally arrived, Dan had already toured a bit of the museum so Rosy, Dan and I decided to take advantage of the remaining thirty minutes.
