I fell in love with Turkey. What a terrific country and what wonderful people! I decided to make the trip of a lifetime to the fateful shores of Gallipoli. It's here that was born the most important day on the Australian Calendar - Anzac Day. I spent 2 weeks in Turkey - mostly in Istanbul, but also in Ephesus, Pamukkale and of course Gallipoli. This trip changed my life.

A paler shade of white...

The next day we went to Parmukkale however no one had told me that the place looks nothing like it’s advertisement photos.

The photos of course are all from the 80’s before tourism and poor environmental managemanet destroyed this once-beautiful location. Over development has lowered the water table and caused these wonderful cascading white limestone pools to stop forming. As a result what now exists is some dirty, grey lumps of crap almost devoid of any decent water. It was still an amazing site, there are some important archaeological sites nearby and the lunch was good….
