I took the bus from Nanning to Hanoi. When I got to the Vietnam border I saw on my entrance form that I needed a medical check. I was a bit worried. What does a medical check to get into Vietnam involve?
When I got to the window the guy told me that I need to pay 2,000 dong for this "medical check". I told him, "I don't have any dong." He says that 2 yuan will do (about 30 cents). So I pay it and then stood there waiting to see the doctor. The guy then tells me to go through that door. I go through the door and found myself standing outside.
The bus ride to Vietnam was long. In China the bus was nice, big, cool, and there was some silly Hong Kong movie with English subtitles on. But once in Vietnam we changed buses. The one in Vietnam was small, hot, and dirty. It also had horrible music that was a but too loud. But from what I hear it's better that the train.
