Well Im off on a bit of a trip! Having met up with Tom in the Kings Street Backpackers in Melbourne we have decided on a trip to Tasmania for a few days - booked flights for $160 return and have headed off to the airport. Only just managed to get there in time for the flight and after some frantic checking in we hopped on a Jetstar flight for 45 mins to the Natural State of Australia.
I've had a soft spot for Tasmania ever since learning about the existance and extinction of the Thylacine - the Tasmanian Tiger - waaaaaay back when I was still in school. That said im quite interested to see what the state is like, its supposed to be a few degrees cooler than the rest of Aus - could be handy come summer time - and a lot more green too!
touched down in Hobart International Airport - a couple of stips of tarmac in the middle of a big field with a couple of shacks cobbled together at the far end serving as the Terminal. Much to my surprise the sniffer dogs were Beagles, checking for fruit / vegetables as opposed to class A drugs - apparently its a move to try and curb pests entering the state.
