At 7am I said goodbye to Milky and Nagle since they were leaving at 5pm to go back to Bangkok so they could catch their flight back to Ireland. It was really sad to say goodbye to them since we had become pretty close friends in the 2 weeks or so of traveling together. I promised to do everything I could to make it to Ireland in Feb for their rag week since they said I could crash at their place and it’s supposed to be the best time of year to come see them. After quite a few hugs we parted and I went to catch my bus for the visa run which ended up coming 25 minutes late.
For the next 4 ½ hours there was about 10 of us crammed into this tiny mini-bus with no room to move at all and the ride was so shitty that I couldn’t manage to sleep at all even though I was running on no sleep. We got to Myanmar around 11:45am or so and had 2 hours to walk around what they call the Golden Triangle cus the meeting point of the borders of Thailand, Laos and Myanmar. Burma was quite interesting though as guys would come up to you asking if you wanted to have sex with 15 year old girls or if you wanted Viagra or fake cigarettes. We left at around 1:30pm to head back to Chiang Mai and on the way back I was able to get about 2 hours of sleep and we were back at Julies by about 6pm or so. I ran into Sean and Bernie playing pool and decided to lay down for an hour or so before going to get some food.
Sean woke me up around 8pm and since we went pretty hard last night we figured we’d have a quite night and go to the night market to walk around and get some food. We got back around 12am and I was really tired so we basically went right to bed and I made sure to tell them to wake me up in the morning when they were leaving since they were heading to Laos in the morning for the last week of their trip.
