The Netherlands Rock
December 23, 2006
Hi Everyone,
I may be the worst blog writer in the history of blogs.......
Den Haag was so cool to see, all of the sights and foreign sounds. Straight out of a movie. My favorite is crocketta or bederballen (spelling who knows?). Similar in flavour to Swedish meatballs, they are balls of meat deepfried and served with mustard sauce.
I have learned minimal Dutch words. Haut - good. Pack un Kado en open huit. (pick a present and open it). Very useful for Christmas. I am missing the family a lot. Hard to be away at christmas.
i am struck at how nice and friendly everyone is here when they notice I speak English. They are all eager to help and practise their English and laugh at my attempts to say Dutch words.
We went to Mandy's friends house for a dinner and drinks. We played a game with dice and presents, similar to white elephant at home. Really fun especially after a bit of wine!
We played this cool playstation game that uses a camera and you can see yourself on the screen. A lot of fun, I think I need one when i get home.
It was so cool to shop in the streets of Den haag and see the different architecture. Everything is so clean and looks like a mix of old and new (but the new is really chic).
Drove on a highway for the first time in months, felt good to be in open space again. Well, I didn't drive, deborah drove, but you know what i mean.
