catching up with family
mike left california a day before me and headed down to dangriga friday night, so when i arrived saturday morning he and my aunt diane had booked a tropic air flight for me down to dangriga. he and chetney, another cousin, met me at the tropic air runway in dangriga and we headed to my grandmom's house - which is literally about five minutes away from the strip. my aunt works for tropic air, which is a nice bonus because that means discounted flights! my grandmom was actually still out here in california for the next few days, but their home is our home so that's where anyone and everyone stays when they're in town.
saturday was spent catching up with my aunt and her boys and some of mike's friends. mike was raised in belize and didn't move to the us till he was 18 when he joined the air force, so he has a lotta friends back home. we met up with his friend curtis, and then met giselle and salma - two friends of curtis's who were in belize for a couple of weeks. giselle and salma are both from honduras but are currently going to school in the u.s. super fun girls!
we went up the road to visit some family in the valley there - they weren't home so we turned back but on the way home my aunt diane's car started to overheat - really not that surprising in belize weather! we ended up having to call my grandpa out. keep in mind he's a mechanic so when any of us are having car trouble, especially when it's because of us not taking care of the car, he's not a happy camper!
